Strength training for dancers: the week Kaizmax builds

Updated: October 10, 2026

You dance twice a week and want strength training that serves your dancing? In Kaizmax, dance has its own category: “Dance / group fitness”. You declare your class days, you choose whether you want conditioning, and a rules engine (not AI) builds your week: sessions, conditioning and meals. Here is an example output by the app's engine for a sample profile.

What dance demands

Dance strings together balances, rises and landings, often on one leg. The app's dance conditioning strengthens three qualities:

This strength work replaces neither your class nor your teacher's advice: it trains these qualities alongside, with clean technique.

A sample profile: the week generated by the app

The sample profile: female, 28, 168 cm, 60 kg, maintenance goal, beginner, 3 sessions of 60 minutes at home, with resistance bands and dumbbells, classes on Tuesday and Thursday, and one conditioning session requested.

Three engine rules show up in it:

Since the sample profile is a beginner, compound lifts are done for 3 sets (4 at intermediate level). The days stay the same from one generation to the next; the exercises may change, so your week won't necessarily be a copy of this one.

The dance conditioning session in detail

With one conditioning session requested, it is strength-focused. Its dance structure is set in the code: core, calves, lunge, hip hinge, core, squat. At 60 minutes, the session has six exercises: the seventh slot, cardio, is cut.

Targeted strengthening aims at the areas the app links to dance (ankles, hips, core), two at most: here hips and core. Ankles are missing because their only exercise available here, standing calf raises, is already in the main block, and the app doesn't repeat an exercise. The Romanian deadlift is only possible here because dumbbells are checked. With two conditioning sessions, the second is power-focused; with three, the third targets endurance.

Your classes count in your calories

For this profile, the target is 2,032 kcal per day (108 g protein, 258 g carbs, 63 g fat), versus 1,929 kcal without the classes. The gap, about 103 kcal per day, estimates your two classes: 120 minutes × 0.10 kcal per minute per kg × 60 kg, spread over 7 days. Protein doesn't move. The base is the one in the calorie and macro calculator.

Meals follow your week: 2,116 kcal from Monday to Friday (sessions and classes), 1,824 kcal at the weekend, for an average that lands back on the target. In “My club”, you can set the length of each class; otherwise, the app counts one hour.

Frequently asked questions

Can you do strength training for dance at home?

Yes: the example on this page is generated at home, with resistance bands and dumbbells. The app only keeps exercises you can do with the gear you checked; if you check nothing, everything is bodyweight.

How many conditioning sessions should you pick?

You decide: the app asks whether you want conditioning and how many sessions (it suggests one); answer “No” and your plan stays classic. Each conditioning session takes the place of a session in your plan instead of being added on top. With or without conditioning, your classes count in your calories.

What changes with a declared competition?

For dance, the app says competition rather than match. Declare it in “My club”, then open “Protect my week”: the app shows you what moves so there are no legs and no conditioning in the 48 hours before (a no-legs variant, a change of day, or a session removed for lack of room), and you apply it. The day after isn't blocked.
